After decades producing dreams, giving hope, happiness and awakening so many feelings on the people all around the world, finally the dream machine reached its limit and died.
R.I.P. Hollywood
Now seriously, wtf is going on? all the directors do now are remakes and adaptations of all kind, and worst, they all FAIL.
I hate to use the "fail" word as expression but that's show exactly the reaction of the fans (specially me) after watch a piece of art be transformed into a piece of sh**.
If you look at about 2 decades ago, you will find so many, at least, amusing movies and series... just think about it, which ones was the movie hits on theaters and video rentals? I give you a small list:
Goonies (1985)
Raiders of the lost ark (1981)
Indiana jones and the temple of doom (1984)
Big trouble in little china (1986)
The jewel of the nile (1985)
Back to the future (1985)
Need more...?
Remakes? yeah they made many at that time so as sequels but none was so lame as the ones today, the only difference is that today we have powerful computers and a lot of electronic gadgets, programs and all kind of stuff to "try" to cover the failures, and it still fails!!
you don't have to believe on me, just watch by yourself and compare. I will give you another small list:
The day the earth stood still - whats that about? nothing... at least the classic 1951 version had a message to pass.
War of the worlds - even Spielberg, famous for many hits failed with a remake.
Charlie and the chocolate factory - i really like Tim Burton and his version is good but wasn't it about Charlie?
All the goddamn japanese horror movies - please be more original instead only change characters and locations.
and there's more coming... A Nightmare on Elm Street... GOD!
Not like all remakes are so bad, Tim Burton one have many good points he just gave too much attention to the wrong character, Oceans Eleven was a good remake too but look at all the crap we have around and they don't stop!!
Now about adaptations, when someone make a adaptation of a cartoon, comic book or whatever, do they EVER think about the fans who want to see what they was used to on the original source? I used to like comic books like x-men but the movie was something extremely disappointing, so as speed racer and even transformers. All the things i used to like when kid are now back but distorted like in the movie Alice by Jan Svankmajer or even Return to Oz by Walter Murch. Can't they make a f***ing single and simple adaptation right? In The Hulk 2 they almost got it, they fixed some points of the first and lamest of all versions and made something good. The movie have the original accident with Dr. Banner, the characters was acting like they was suppose to do (Hulk smash!! Hurray!!) and they even included the theme from the 70's series lol.
And wtf they did with Doctor Doom? Galactus?
Mach 6?!? Never was a Mach 6 on the entire Speed Racer series. And where the movie was shot anyway? Care Bear's Rainbow Land?!? wtf?
To conclude, specially because i'm getting tired and stressed about this crap, a last point about the adaptations, actually that's more a request... STOP KILLING ALL THE DAMN VILLAINS!! Heroes don't kill villains, specially the ones like Batman who still fight the same ones a more then 50 years. Also DON'T KILL KEY CHARACTERS!! There was even a mini-series that involved many characters and introduced new ones only to prevent Charles Xavier death and they not only simply killed him but also Cyclops and Jean Gray... wtf? maybe i make a body count... silver surfer, joker, penguin, galactus, poison ivy... but that's only about comics adaptations... books, cartoons, games and animes i wont even mention right now because that's too much to talk about, maybe later i "remake"or create a "sequel" of this post.
anyway, my condolences to the other orphans, and rest in peace hollywood, may God have mercy of your past success... ashes to ashes, dust to dust...
