One of the best comic novels created transformed into a TV animation.

I think this is, with no doubt, the best psychological thriller created in many decades. The series have 2 seasons but actually i don't like as much of the 2nd one, maybe it wasn't so intense in my opinion.

This series have no action at all, so if u look for punches, gunshots and swords swinging don't even try it. All the action is based into psychological attacks between the two main characters, geniuses at their own style.

Monster (2004 / 2005)

Sometimes to do the right thing you must pay a high price...

Doctor Kenzo Tenma is a young and brilliant brain surgeon living in Germany during 80's. He's life was perfect, a near a promotion and a dedicated fiancé who's also daughter of the director of the hospital. But due to the political bias of the hospital to choose his patients, Dr Tenma, after a moral and professional dilemma gamble his luck risking the mayor life to save a little boy. That decision changed his future and many others too.

My opinion is if this story was a book it would be a best-seller. A really complex story that involve politics, religion and the deepest human nature in a insane hunt for life and death.

The story is long and some episodes are not really necessary but help to explain some points, the characters are pretty good and the end was surprising somehow.

Highly recommended to the ones who think that anime is only for little kids and to who, like me, can't stand watching the cliche BEAM-HA!-BOOM! fighting stuff.

Uchuu Senkan Yamato (1974)

The classical sci-fi series from 70's.
The year 2199. The planet Earth, under heavy attacks from aliens, is now partially destroyed forcing the humans to live on the underground. As last hope, using all technology and resources left, they rebuild an old battleship sunken during the WWII as a space ship. The ship name... Yamato.

That's for sure a classic and have many fans even today. a "rebirth" series was released this year (2009) mixing new design and CGI but, i still love the old fashion 1974 version.
I remember i watched this one on TV long ago, at that time there was good animes like: Uchuu Senkan Yamato (Starblazers on USA or Patrulha Estelar on Brazil), Don Dracula (i still need this one), Kick no oni ( anime by Ikki Kajiwara based on the kickboxer Tadashi Sawamura, looking desperately for it), Ogon Bat (Golden Bat AKA Phantom Man AKA Phantomas, also looking for it), and some i don't even remember clearly but some i cant simply forget like the opening theme of Yamato.

Super Dimentional Fortress Macross (1982 - 1983)

In a near future a huge UFO crashes on earth. The incident create chaos and war between nations.
Many years later the United Nations Government was established in order to protect peace and the earth against a possible alien menace.
...the peace was about to end.
This series can be sci-fi as theme but the plot goes beyond. The action is pretty good but the most important points are, with no doubt, the drama involving the 3 main characters and their complicated romance and the clash of cultures.

A great series, with many sequels and OVA's. Here i will leave the link for the original series remasterized.

This one for sure deserve a place of honor on any collection. Excellent story, excellent characters, excellent jokes.
I wish i had meet a teacher like this lol.

Stupid, many ridiculous moments but somehow it's funny to watch. not even close of my top list but worth a look.

One of my favorite animes. not so far from reality but still can make some people dream. really good songs beside the awful english pronounce (worst than my own lol).
