Dr. Tenma is a brilliant scientist who lost his son in a accident, in despair he build a "copy" of his son using all his talent and technology avaliable.
Astroboy is a adaptation of the japanese series Tetsuwan Atomu from 80's but as many movie adaptations, it's an alternated story. The Movie is entirely in CGI and the animation is pretty good, the reknown characters of the TV series mark their presence even if for a quick scene. Of course the movie follow an american alternated storyline erasing all possibilities to link the movie universe with japan (lame way to steal credits if you ask me) but beside the changes in old elements like the atomic based heart of astroboy be more fantasy/sci-fi, it's still ok and enjoyable, specially because the movie have adventure and drama moments and probably will amuse the entire public. The voice cast is also pretty good and include: Nicholas Cage (Dr. Tenma), Samuel L. Jackson (ZOG) between others.
Overall if you want an enjoyable time with the family or alone this movie is a good choice
